5th Hour - Population Boom - Page 2 Empty Overpopulation

Post  arielaskew Thu Nov 10, 2011 7:49 pm

2. What would happen if McCluer North became overpopulated? What kind of problems would it cause? What kind of day to day changes would have to be made (besides building a bigger school) to accommodate a larger student population? Name at least three specific problems of accommodations in your discussion.
If McCluer North became overpopulated it would cause many problems in how the school is ran on a daily basis like less resources and space most importantly. If this became a problem some daily changes that would have to be made would be more resources of things like books, desks, and lunch room food as well as to make the class room sizes more equal where one math class for example doesnt have 30 students to the next hrs 14 students.

5th Hour - Population Boom - Page 2 Empty How many kids do you have...?

Post  megan Gates Wed Nov 23, 2011 12:28 am

If McCluer North had an over populated student body resources would be limited, the teacher to student ratio would have a negative affect of on the students, and the cost of sporting events & lunch would go up.

If McCluer North had an outragous number of students resources like text books, computers, art utensils, and paper would be limited wich creates a weak foundation for the students. If children come from a weak foundation then it will be very difficult for them to succed.

The teacher to student ration also plays a big part in creating a strong foundation for the students. If the number of students increases per every one teacher then learning in the class room will go down. Teachers will have to cater to a larger number of students and thier attention will be spread too thin so test scores are garenteed to go down.

Lastly the cost of sporting events and lunch will go up. Our school is already on a tight budjet so if we added more students then we would need more money to take care of the students wich will make the prices for sporting events and lunch go up.

If McCluer North became overpopulated there would be many different problems. One problem would be that there wouldnt be enough desks and students would have to stand. Another problem would be there would be way too many students per teacher would would cause chaos and no one would be able to learn efficiently. One last problem would be lunch, the lines would bee too long and some students probably wouldnt even be able to get lunch. Day to day changes that would have to be made are more teachers per room, more desks, short classes so more students could take that class, more lunch periods and especially more teachers.
.
I really agree with you thier Ben the teacher to student ratio would have a negative effect on the students learning. This will increase bad behaviors aswell as low test scores.

5th Hour - Population Boom - Page 2 Empty Perspective

Brown thinks many changes will be needed to support the population boomm. All of which require world help in manynations. Brown believes that when it all boils down we are looking for the wrong things. Brown is basiclly saying that we will mellow out the population by any means neccessary at this point. Whereas we need to be finding effective solutions. For example he made reference to the death rate doulbling in Africa which willl cause a decrease in populaton, but we should not want that. We should want the population to even out because we are better educated ad driven to take care of the earth we reside on and the the kind of lives we want and people deserve to live.

if mccluer north got overpopulated, everything would be chaotic. It would become difficult to maintain classes and student bahaviors. People would become very angry from lack of space, more teachers would be required. Nobody would ever get lunch unless we extended the lunch period. The school would have to pay tons o money to get enought text books and resources for all the students. It would become difficult to enfore absence and tardy rules because o the amount of students in the school. diseases would be more easily passed becasue of the lack of space. everything would be crazy!

i think i get where you are coming from. It isn't that we want people to die, we should just find more effective ways to keep people alive and try to educate people about being responsible and having less children.

It is already super crowded. I cant even get to class on time if i don't practically push people out o my way because they just stop in the hallway and it gets really crowded really fast
